What a Darśana Is
Lesson 45 left rival movements arguing in public with the ritual world. This lesson is about what the orthodox systems became, and how they argued.
Lesson 30 opened darśana for the temple visit and found an entry covering seeing, becoming visible, presence, and audience. The same entry carries another sense, and it is the one this lesson needs:
"view, doctrine, philosophical system (6 in number, viz. Pūrva-Mīmāṃsā by Jaimini, Uttara-Mīmāṃsā by Bādarāyaṇa; Nyāya by Gotama, Vaiśeṣika by Kaṇāda; Sāṃkhya by Kapila; Yoga by Patañjali)."
Six systems, three pairs, each pair sharing a founding orientation: Mīmāṃsā with Vedānta, Nyāya with Vaiśeṣika, Sāṃkhya with Yoga.

Month 2 · Lesson 46. Three of the six systems open their root texts with the same word. Two of them define dharma in their second sūtra and disagree. And the word for a philosophical system is the word Lesson 30 used for seeing a deity.
